BIJNOR: Around 15 masked robbers looted jewellery, a gun, cartridges and Rs 15,000 from a family in Bijnor’s Badkala village after
midnighton Saturday. They assaulted the family and one member had to been taken to a hospital.
Badkala resident Jamila Begum said, “There are eleven members in our family. My husband Sadruddin is a farmer while my son Harun deals in horses.
At
1:30 am, around 12-15 masked men entered our house. All members of the family were sleeping on cots in the courtyard. They asked us where we keep our valuables and started assaulting us in our own house. They beat my daughter-in-law Haajra bloody. They stole necklaces, nose-pins, anklets and Rs 15,000. They also took a rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition.”
Station officer Kotwali (city) Ajay Kumar Gautam said, “A case of robbery has been registered. The injured woman Haajra has been taken to hospital. They took 2.5 tolas of gold, 15 tolas of silver, a riffle and 20 rounds of ammunition. The matter is suspicious and we are looking at things closely since family member Harun was in jail in a case of robbery that took place six months ago. The investigation is on.”
Dr BR Singh of the emergency section of Bijnor district hospital, said, “Sadruddin, Jamila and another family member have suffered only minor injuries while Haajra suffered major ones. Her nose is fractured. Since there is a lack of ENT and orthopaedic experts here, we have referred her to a hospital in Meerut.”
